Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly

What have your preschool and elementary students been up to during our trilingual summer camp? In addition to their favorite day, Friday Water day, they have been getting a lot done in their English, Spanish and Mandarin language immersion classes! Here is a glimpse of what they have been covering in class so far this summer.

L3 preschool students have been exploring their developmental skills during in-class and outdoor activity time. They have been learning about various animals, singing songs, and learning colors in Mandarin and Spanish!

L4 preschool students have been introduced to writing and are becoming familiar with the bird beak method of holding a pencil for careful penmanship. They practice counting, colors, and animals in Mandarin and Spanish language immersion classes.

L5 students are building on their trilingual language skills from the past school year, and they are diving deeper into colors, words, and characters in all three languages. They participate in activities based on stories like the Hungry Caterpillar to review vocabulary.

Academic Workshop students have been refining their language skills in small group tutoring sessions. They sing songs, work on their Chinese annunciation in Chinese language classes, and strengthen their sentence structure and reading comprehension in Spanish and English classes.
