Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly

Last week in Summer Camp, RSI students traveled to India to study more wonders of the world. During the week, they learned all about Indian culture and traditions through presentations. Campers learned about clothes and activities that originated in India like Henna and also got crafty when they painted the Taj Majal in watercolors and created Henna designs. Our online teachers have been finding new ways to engage students during their online summer camp. This week they learned about India through different crafts and activities, and they sharpened their language skills with worksheets, songs, and dances!

Preschool teachers also tied in the charter theme of Friendship in their daily lessons. Campers read The Rainbow Fish and talked about how they can be good friends to each other by sharing. Students also make superhero capes to represent how they are Superfriends!

Campers ended the week by celebrating Holi! Also known as “The Color Festival” of India. It was so much fun throwing color powder around. The kids enjoyed mixing different colored powder on their shirts and had fun throwing powder at their teachers too!
