Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly

RSIOC’s leadership development includes the Leader in Me program which guides students to evolve into well-rounded learners by developing the student as a whole. Each elementary class works together to co-create a class mission statement. In English classes, students worked together to create mission statements that reflect their class goals, values, and expectations. Students keep each other accountable by review their mission statements daily.

We are proud of our students for taking the initiative to create these daily affirmations as a reminder of the things that are important to them, so they know what they represent, who they are, and what they want to work towards every day. Here are a few statements from elementary classes that they will refer to lead them to success:

“We are going to try our best to learn as much as we can, so we can be smart in high school.” – C6-2

“We will work hard with our friends at school to improve mentally and physically. This way, we can find success in the things we love, like studying, having fun, and spending time with family.” C8-1

“We will improve together by calmly practicing gratitude and enthusiasm for the things we learn. Rest, as well as hard work, is valuable; our balance will be our success. We will find the light during these challenging times; our strength lies in our friendships. Our physical and mental skills will lead us to prosperity.” – C10
