Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly

If you drew yourself as a LEGO, what would you be? Summer camp students were tasked with the challenge of LEGOizing themselves during Spanish class. Students took their time going through the creative process, explored their imaginations, and discovered a new them as a Lego! After brainstorming, students began to draw how they would want to represent themselves. They practiced their Spanish language skills by reviewing traits and characteristics in Spanish before they practiced their Spanish writing skills. They wrote a few sentences of how they would dress and what powers they would have. The results were unique LEGO versions of our students! In RSI’s Summer Academic workshop, teachers find fun ways to engage our students while still guiding them to refine and build on their language skills. What a fun project that not only exhibited student creativity but teacher creativity as well!
