Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly
School is out for Summer! Students, staff, and families had a lot to celebrate last week during RSI’s end-of-the-year celebrations.
Looking back on the 2020-2021 school year, there is a lot to celebrate. Students celebrated all week long with parties, performances, award ceremonies, and graduations.
Preschool kicked off the week with a themed Spirit Week where student enjoyed their last days in preschool in their favorite costumes and comfy pajamas. All week, preschool students worked hard practicing and rehearsing for their End of the Year Performances, and our L5 students practiced walking down the aisle for their graduation that took place. On Thursday, families joined together to watch their student’s classes perform songs and dances in Spanish, English, and Mandarin. L5 parents were cheering for their young ones as they walked on the stage to receive their diplomas. Although there was an unexpected downpour, the show must go on!, our students did a good job of wowing their parents with how far they have come over this past year. Thanks to the great work of our Preschool admin team and Ms. Davis for running the show despite unforeseen weather changes.
RSI elementary students ended the year with in-class and online parties where teachers passed out fun awards to students that reflected their unique traits. It was a big day for our C10 students who promoted to C11 with an intimate graduation. Students from the C10 class received 4 school-wide awards: Student of the Year, Most Improved and two Community Service Awards. This class has been a great example of what RSI students can achieve.
As it is our 10 year anniversary, it is only fitting that our first middle school class has graduation to high school! An intimate graduation was held for our middle school students. Students reflected on their past years at RSI and the unique experiences they had. Student speeches even moved staff and parents to tears reminiscing on favorite memories shared with the RSI community.
It was a big year for RSI, and it ended on a great note.
