Outside the Box – Ashley Bleeker
RSI Running Club students took on the challenge of running a 5k and after training together for the past few months, they can now celebrate its completion!
The Running Club is an afterschool enrichment program for students encouraging an active lifestyle, a core value for RSI. Each week, their instructor guided them through drills aiming to develop the skills, form, and fitness needed to run with confidence. These club meetings are full of both fun and hard work. Students were challenged to improve their running ability and strive toward advancement. While the emphasis of the club was on supporting students as they practice physical fitness, it also aided them in forming connections on campus.
On Sunday, March 27th, the Spirit run in Newport Beach took place, the big finish for the students in the Running Club. Students and their families had a great time together as they crossed the finish line and received medals for completion.
Events such as the 38th Annual Spirit Run hold many benefits for all individuals involved. One of the core values of RSI is that of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Physical activity is important to the overall lifestyle that our students, families, and faculty lead. These events not only support the goal to stay physically active but also assist families in building community within RSI. By engaging in areas of common interest, each individual found strengthened connections and camaraderie.
