Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly
This year RSI’s elementary back to school night looked different. Instead of gathering on campus as we normally would late September, RSI teachers prepared presentations that covered their syllabus, course materials, class expectations, and the online learning experience. This was a wonderful opportunity for teachers to introduce themselves to their new families and talk about themselves, their interests, and how they will run their classes online. Chinese, Spanish, and English language teachers found ways to incorporate different games into the classrooms. Although we are beginning the year online, RSI teachers have done a wonderful job preparing for the new school year and getting the students and parents excited about their new classes. Parents were introduced to the “Renascence Way” where students can earn Renny Bucks to spin the prize wheel when they show up to class prepared and ready to learn.
Back to School Night will be the first of many virtual events for RSI as we students study online until we can return to campus and gather safely.
