Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly
Last week, RSI elementary welcomed back kindergarten students for phase II reopening of with onsite distance learning. The RSIOC campus is slowly reopening classrooms to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines. Administration and teachers have been working diligently to provide the best education for students while keeping everyone safe. During this phase of RSI’s reopening plan, a handful of students are distance learning onsite. L10 on-campus students attend class over zoom with their other classmates who are at home, so they are still interacting with their teachers and cohort. Classroom attendants are supervising the students throughout the day to ensure everyone is wearing a mask, washing hands, and maintaining a safe distance. Students’ desks are spaced out 6 ft inside the classroom, and all students have their own set of learning materials and toys to play with throughout the day. It has been exciting seeing the students get creative and come up with new games to play that allows them to engage with one another but remain distanced. We are happy to have students joining us on campus, and we are grateful for the staff who are working hard to keep the classrooms clean and keep our students safe.
