Srta. Arciniega is currently working on completing her Associate of Arts degree at Santa Ana College and will be transferring to California State University of Fullerton in the near future. Srta. Arciniega has completed two internships in the district of Anaheim and has worked with children ever since she was in high school. Her passion is to support the success of children and families through early childhood education as well as being an advocate for those who do not have a voice. She is a proud mother of two beautiful girls and loves going to the beach, reading, and exploring new places with her family.

Ms. Baker, Physical Edcuation Instuctor

Ms. Baker attended Azusa Pacific University with a Major in Human Development. She has a vast range of experience working with children, which includes working in group homes, Special Education in the Public Schools (both the high school and elementary levels), foster care, and also coaching basketball at the high school level. In addition, Ms. Baker runs an established photography business in Orange County. Through her photography business, and her spouse’s magic business, they make an extensive impact in the community through a multitude of charity and non-profit organizations.

Sra. Burket was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Studying at Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón, in the La Molina District, Peru, she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education and her Professional Title of Licentiate in Special Education. She completed a Post Graduate International Teaching course in Havana, Cuba. Sra. Burket likes being a part of the children’s lives as they go through their early learning period. She enjoys spending time with her daughters and visiting her relatives and friends in Florida and Peru.

Sra. Cajal, L50 & L60 Spanish Teacher
Sra. Cajal was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. She obtained her Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Music Teaching and in Elementary Teaching in the Universidad de Alcala, where she also received her Master’s Degree in middle and high school music teaching. Her passions are teaching, traveling and languages. Sra. Cajal is fluent in Spanish, Italian and English. These passions made her participate and lead Cultural Projects with European Union programs in Italy, Greece, Turkey and Spain. Before coming to California, Sra. Cajal lived in Rome and moved to Utah to teach her mother language. Sra. Cajal believes we never stop learning, there is always something new to be discovered.
Ms. Casillas, L40 Science Teacher
Ms. Casillas graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a major in Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology and a minor in Chicana/o Studies. Ms. Casillas has completed an internship with UCLA Healthcare Extenders doing rounds with pediatric doctors and nurses. She has worked with children since high school and looks forward to continuing this in the future. Ms. Casillas hopes to apply and enter medical school and become a pediatrician. Her hobbies include reading, going to the beach, baking, volunteering at local clinics, and enjoying time with her family.

Chen Laoshi,L10 & L30 Science Teacher
Chen Laoshi received her Master's degree from Claremont Graduate University and has worked in the field of education for five years in Shanghai, China. She believes that learning can be both fun and creative. She also feels passionate in encouraging her students to use creativity in order to solve both real world problems and school tasks. Ms. Chen has a strong background in fine arts and she loves to help the kids explore science through multi-medium activities. In her free time, Ms. Chen loves to explore arts in different museums and volunteering her time in non-profit organizations.

Chen Laoshi has been an English teacher in China for seven years, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade. She then acquired her Montessori preschool teacher credential in the U.S. She has been working in a Motessori preschool for four years. Chen Laoshi also created and built the first Chinese immersion program in a preschool. She believes that every child has the ability to learn if given the opportunity, and ensures that she gives each child her best. In her spare time Chen Laoshi enjoys traveling and spending time with her kids.

Mrs. Cox, L60 English Teacher / L70 & L80 English/ History Teacher
Mrs. Kerrigan-Cox has taught English literature, grammar, and writing to high school students and to international students studying in the Intensive English Program at the University of California Irvine Extension. Mrs. Cox completed a double major at Stanford University, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree with distinction in English and Human Biology. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Stanford University and a California Secondary Teaching Credential. As the mother of three elementary age children, Mrs. Cox is keenly interested in early childhood and elementary education. She loves reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Mrs. Flournoy is a “third culture kid.” She was born in Brazil, and at age five her family became missionairies and moved to Mozambique. From her experiences here and abroad, she has seen how a nurturing and safe environment can encourage children to reach their full potential. Mrs. Flournoy received her Associate of Arts degree from Orange Coast College with an emphasis in Communication. She has since continued to study early childhood development to pursue a career as a preschool teacher. Mrs. Flournoy is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the next generation. She enjoys incorporating art and music in the classroom, and encourages children to use their imaginations in all aspects of learning.

Ms. Franco graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Adolescent Development. Throughout her years in the university, Ms. Franco spent 2 years on the board for Student California Teachers Association, a department mentor, and would volunteer at a low-income school in Santa Ana. Ms. Franco has four years of experience working with preschool and school- aged children here at RSI and other school settings. She strives to provide an excellent education experience to every child. When Ms. Franco has spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the movies, amusement parks and traveling.

Ms. Gallardo graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a major in English with highest honors and a minor in Chicana/o Studies. Her passion for education and belief in the potential of all students has led her down the pathway of elementary education. Ms. Gallardo hopes to nourish a profound love of learning in her students. Throughout her years at UCLA, she was involved in a variety of human rights and education organizations and committed countless hours to English tutoring. In her free time, Ms. Gallardo loves to read and spend time with her family.

Gao Laoshi, L20 Science Teacher
Gao Laoshi received a Master's Degree in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Southern California. Born and raised in a family of teachers, she always knew that she wanted to teach. Her passion and curiosity of languages lead her to become a Chinese teacher. She believes in the power of second language learning at an early age, and that education is the most powerful catalyst of change in one's life. In her spare time, Ms. Gao loves to travel and experience the local culture and food on her adventures.

Ms. Garcia graduated from Cal State University Fullerton, with a Bachelor’s in Child and Adolescent Studies, with an emphasis of Family and Community. She also received a minor in Human Services. Ms. Garcia also has an Associates in, Child Development from Fullerton College. She has 8 years of experience working in the field of Child Development. Ms. Garcia has worked with children of all ages. She is striving to go back to school to continue her education and graduate with a Masters. She loves shaping and helping young minds reach their full potential. Besides teaching and helping young children, Ms. Garcia loves traveling, scrapbooking and dancing.

Ms. Gu, Elementary & Middle School Director
Ms. Gu has been working at independent schools for over a decade. As an educator, she taught children of different ages from 4K to 12th grade and worked with families as well as fellow educators of diverse backgrounds. For the last ten plus years, she has launched a new language program, chaired the language department, and helped grow an international student program. She is also involved in assisting families to navigate the independent school application process. Ms. Gu feels wants to empower young people to learn and explore. The belief in the excitement of learning and the faith in the learner’s potential are the reasons why she chooses to work in the field of education.

Sra. Guzman received her Bachelor degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills majoring in Liberal Studies with an option in Human Development.  She has six years of experience working in childhood education ranging from Preschool to High School. Prior to joining the RSI family, Ms. Guzman worked as an elementary school teacher’s aide and also served as a college mentor in a High School. As a mother of two beautiful girls, she sees the importance of allowing children to express their creativity as well as find their voice. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new places.

Ms. Kelly, Program Director
Ms. Kelly grew up in Orange County where she spent time as an aide in special education classrooms and volunteered with Best Buddies. She assisted professors with various research projects at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she received a Bachelor’s in Communication. Ms. Kelly’s past work experience as a marketing coordinator and event coordinator, along with years of volunteering with non-profits, align with her passion of making other’s visions a reality. She believes that being a catalyst for change begins by creating meaningful connections with those in her community.

Huang Laoshi has been teaching English in one of the top elementary schools in Shanghai for more than 8 years. She graduated from a teaching program in UCI and had great hands-on opportunities with local kids. She believes learning is a fun process for children, in which they play, collaborate with peers and experience success.

Huie Laoshi, L2 Chinese Teacher
Huie Laoshi finished her education for early childhood teaching at Cerritos Community College and Penn Foster College. Before coming to the United States in 2007, she studied Kindergarten Teacher Education at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. She also received a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Charles Stuart University in Australia. She is fluent in Mandarin, English and Cantonese. Huie Laoshi enjoys working with young children and has been teaching in preschools since 1999. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys helping with the toddlers at church on Sundays and spending time with her family doing anything family related.

Liu Laoshi was born and raised in Tianjin, China, and earned her Associate's Degree in hotel management at Normal University in Beijing. She also studied Child Development at Long Beach City College. For the last decade, she has worked with children from pre-k to fifth grade and is also very involved with her children's schooling and extracurricular activities. Liu Laoshi takes a particular interest in looking to advance the education of children. This has led her to help raise money on behalf of her children's school for extracurricular educational opportunities, as well as sponsoring a girl from Gambia until she graduated high school. Liu Laoshi loves reading, hiking, and traveling with her family.

Ms. Miranda, L20 English Teacher

Ms. Miranda was born and raised in Anaheim, California. Ms. Miranda majored in Child and Adolescent Development at Cal State Fullerton, and was involved in multiple educational clubs. She is in the process of applying to the Multiple Subject Credential Program at Cal State Fullerton and Chapman University. Ms. Miranda has been in the field of education for six years, and loves to teach and make a difference in each child’s life. Ms. Miranda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and trying different types of food.

Mrs. Mizera brings a blend of business acumen and a passion for education excellence to the Renascence School International. She was educated in the U.S. and China and received a Bachelor of Science degree from University of California, Irvine. In addition to working in the investment management field, she is a past President of the Orange County Chinese American Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Mizera believes learning is fun and is passionate about providing Orange County children with an education option that combines advanced academics and foreign language learning.

Mr. Mizera, Director of Admissions, Development Officer
Mr. Mizera has a background in business, finance and fundraising. He has degrees from the Talbot School of Theology and Biola University. Before joining Renascence School International Orange County, he served as Executive Vice President of China Source, a non-profit company that assists organizations with work in China. Mr. Mizera has experience teaching advanced students as well as students needing remediation. Mr. Mizera believes that schools that offer advanced academics and an international perspective are the wave of the future.
Sra. Negrete, L3-2 Spanish Teacher
Sra. Negrete graduated from CSUF with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Adolescent Studies, and has an Associate’s degree in Child Development with an emphasis in Social Behavior. She took Spanish Honors AP/IB classes all throughout high school and into college. Sra. Negrete lives in La Mirada, CA with her husband and three daughters and loves to scrapbook, sew, and make DIY crafts. Sra. Negrete’s go-to place for ideas is Pinterest and her cricut is her best friend for crafting. She loves going to new places with her family and taking a lot of pictures to use in her scrapbooks. In her spare time, she also enjoys shopping and Starbucks.

Pang Laoshi, L30, L40, L50 & L60 Chinese Teacher
Pang Laoshi received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from Shandong University in China. He has been in business with Europe for two decades, and received his Post Graduate degree in Business Management from the University of Foreign Economy and Trade in Beijing. After transferring to the teaching field, he received certification to be a Senior Grade Chinese Language Teacher from IPA in Utah. Pang Laoshi loves to teach the Chinese language and culture and enjoys Chinese Taichi martial arts and calligraphy.

Pao Laoshi has been a math teacher for 18 years. She grew up in Taiwan and graduated from Takming University of Science and Technology. Pao Laoshi has also been a mathematics championship competition trainer for consecutive years. Pao Laoshi believes that working problems in an organized way is key to student success. She likes to teach her students to work with their eyes and their hands and encourages them to maximize their creativity. Pao Laoshi enjoys doing simple things in life, such as, spending time with her family, walking her dog, and gardening.

Sra. Sanz, a native of Spain, has a bachelor´s degree in Childhood and Elementary Education from the University Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid. Her emphasis is in Special Education and she has a master´s degree in Journalism. She has been working in kinder and elementary classrooms as a Spanish and Spanish as a second language teacher and enjoys being part of the children's lives as they learn and grow. Sra. Sanz believes in trying to make learning fun and meaningful for her students. In her free time she loves to travel.

Mrs. Setodehnia received her Bachelor`s degree (Applied Chemistry) in University of Kerman/Iran. She is a graduate of UCLA Department of Education for Clear Credential and has earned her Credential in Single Subject (Science) at Rhode Island College. Mrs. Nia taught 8th grade Science and 10th grade Chemistry in Santa Ana, and was also a substitute teacher for 3 years. Mrs. Setodehnia worked as a certified pharmacy technician for 8 years in Rhode Island. She enjoys helping students succeed in Science and watching them learn and grow. It is her goal to make sure every student has a successful learning experience in her class. Mrs. Nia loves to travel with her family and learn about other cultures.

Tan Laoshi, L50 Math Teacher / Academic Support Coordinator
Tan Laoshi has an M.A. degree in Teaching from the University of Southern California. She has been working as an educator since the year of 2011. She believes that a high quality education helps dreams come true. Her teaching focuses on how the students learn, implementing various teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and needs. Tan Laoshi’s goal is to nurture student confidence and learning autonomy. She aims to help the students fall in love with learning and guide them to fulfill their individual potential. Tan Laoshi enjoys literature, fine art and Chinese Regimen. She loves linguistics, philosophy, psychology and world music. During her free time, she also loves traveling and photography.
Wu Laoshi, L10 Math Teacher / L10 P.E. Teacher
Wu Laoshi earned a B.A. in Computer Science from CCU, Taiwan. She also earned a master degree in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering as well as a Teaching Certificate from NCU, Taiwan.  Wu Laoshi also earned both a B.A. in Chinese and English Language and Literature from TKU, Taiwan. Wu Laoshi is a U.S. licensed Physician of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with several years in private practice and more than five years at a University teaching TCM. Wu Laoshi brings fourteen years of experience as a full-time Taiwan licensed teacher.  Her student-centered teaching philosophy focuses on the whole child and the development of a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

Xiong Laoshi, L10 & L20 Chinese Teacher
Xiong Laoshi earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese Literature and Education from Sichuan Normal University in China. She pursued her post bachelor study at California State University Long Beach, where she received a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Chinese. Xiong Laoshi enjoys teaching Chinese to students of all different levels and backgrounds. Years of teaching experience has developed in her a love for helping students find their inner strength and embrace their full potential.

Born in China, Xu Laoshi moved to the United States after receiving her Bachelor Degree in English from Sichuan International Studies University. For a deep understanding of international education policies and administration, Xu Laoshi studied and received her Master’s Degree in Public Policy as well as the certificate in Public Administration from University of Southern California. With the background in education administration field, Xu Laoshi is fully experienced in working with students ranging from preschool to high school. Xu Laoshi is passionate about helping students and their families. During her free time, Xu Laoshi likes spending time with her family and friends.

Zhao Laoshi, L70 Chinese Teacher / Elementary Chinese Teacher Assistant
Zhao Laoshi received her first Master's Degree in Psychology of Communication in Communication University of China (CUC). She worked as an international news editor at the prestigious Xinhua News Agency in China, where she grew to be a professionally accurate Chinese language expert, and developed a profound understanding of Chinese society and culture. With an inherent enthusiasm for teaching, Zhao Laoshi accomplished her second Master's program in Bilingual Education at CSU. She loves kids and would like to apply her psychology and education academic knowledge to daily language teaching. For Zhao Laoshi, teaching is more a calling than a livelihood.

Zhang Laoshi achieved her Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2004 from the Chinese Academy of Science. Employed as a lecturer and researcher in Liaoning Normal University, she was invited to participate in different research projects that cooperated with the University of Tokyo and Ghent University. After moving to the U.S. she dedicated herself to teaching Chinese at different education facilities. Zhang Laoshi is an experienced Chinese teacher with a strong science background, who feels passionate in helping her students achieve their full potential.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her three lovely children and world travel.
