Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly
Last week new families joined the daily drop-off loop as elementary opened up the campus for Phase II and Phase III of on-campus learning. Kids eagerly waited in their cars, masked up, waiting to get their temperatures checked and ready to get back into the classroom!
We are so excited to welcome back our L10-C7 students for a mix of online and in-person learning on campus! L10 and C7 students have upgraded to new classrooms for Phase III where they are learning in-person. C6 has transitioned to Phase II online learning, on-campus, with a classroom attendant to help during their activities. Students stay in their designated classrooms and with the same classroom aide throughout the day. Cohorts are kept separate throughout the day but still get to enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Students are so excited to see their friends and be back on campus.
Social distance is promoted in the classrooms by assigning students desks and chairs, providing students with individual materials, and setting various activity stations on the playgrounds to avoid students gathering together. Teachers engage students in learning by adding songs, dance, books, and crafts into their daily lessons. Although students have space between them, teachers do a good job of keeping students interested and assigning tasks or games that they can do in their designated areas.
We are proud of our students and staff’s adaptability to change as our new policies and procedures are in place.
Throughout the day trained staff clean, disinfect, and sanitize frequently touched surfaces, toys, and classroom supplies, and at the end of the day, the campus is cleaned by professional staff. Teachers, staff and administration have been working hard to ensure a safe and comfortable return for students.
RSIOC continues to provide a safe environment for students to continue learning and having fun! Thank you to everyone who is doing their part to stay safe!
