Outside the Box – Nicole Kelly
RSI is excited to be back on campus after a restful and rejuvenating winter break. Looking forward to what 2022 has to offer, RSI is starting with a leap of creativity, pushing the boundaries of language, and continuing the spark of lifelong learning.
RSI students, staff, and families have a lot to look forward to this year. RSI High School students are beginning their first classes at a local community college. This is a great experience that gives our high school students a glimpse into what the future holds for them. By having the opportunity to choose classes they are interested in, they gain autonomy and responsibilities peaked by their natural curiosity and eagerness to learn unique topics. This semester they are taking Intro to Asian Art, where students will dive deeper and expand their knowledge of world cultures by learning an overview of art and architecture in Asia from pre-history to modern times.
High School and Middle School students are also gearing up for their annual Science Fair. All year they have been learning about the scientific research method. They explored different ways to research and test their hypothesis and explain their observations and findings.
Students and families are looking forward to our popular yearly cultural event, Chinese New Year! The family festival will be held during the day to celebrate the Year of the Tiger, sponsored by PTO. PTO has also coordinated an elegant black-tie event for the evening where parents and teachers can come together for a night of entertainment, dancing, and connecting with others over a delicious dinner.
This is just the beginning of what exciting things are to come this year. We are looking forward to celebrating the many milestones and accomplishments that will come along with the new year.
