Teaching Spanish through art and music

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

Mano, Rodilla, and Pies! Hands, knees and feet! Last week, students at Renascence School International learned about their body in Spanish Class. Their teacher, Senor Neira taught them about different parts of their body through art, music and books. One of the children’s favorite activities this week was painting feet! Each of the students created art by covering the bottom of their feet in paint and then stamping their feet onto colored paper. During the painting process, the kids used different paint colors: rojo, azul, marron, and verde. When the children had paint on their feet, they learned it was ‘frio’. Dancing to music, the children ended class with a Spanish hand and feet dance.
