RSIOC field trips for some hands-on learning!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson
Field trips are a terrific way to engage kids and encourage hands-on learning in a safe environment!
Heritage Museum
The field trip to the Heritage Museum was a great hands-on educational experience. It was exciting to watch the students touch, see, taste, and feel all the things they have been learning about in the classroom. It was very apparent that the students were not only learning a lot, but having fun at the same time!

Mission San Juan Capistrano
The C8 and C9 students took a trip to Mission San Juan Capistrano in March. Students enjoyed the beautiful courtyard and spun the task wheel in the clubhouse to find out which job they may have had (grape stomping, tallow making, laundry, adobe brick making, tanning hides, etc.). The kids made miniature adobe bricks! Students marveled at the gold plated altar in the Serra Church and enjoyed hearing the stories from the tour guide. During lunch they also celebrated Jarek’s birthday! Thank you to Mr. Le for accompanying Mr. Pang and Mrs. Cox and a big thank you to Mrs. Gallegos for making all of the arrangements.

Petting Zoo – San Juan Capistrano
Renascence School students from classes L4 and L5 took a field trip to Zoomars Petting Zoo in San Juan Capistrano. It was perfect for this group of students as they have been learning the names of animals in Spanish and Chinese. A field trip is a great way to reinforce what they are learning in school.
