RSI Students Learn Robotics and Coding

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

Robotics and coding, technology and computers, these are important subjects and this summer RSI students were honing skills with an introduction to robotics! Summer campers made a project using Scratch: an MIT-created, block based programming language. The kids learned all about circuits. Students learned how to make a repeating dance animation for a character using loops and sounds. The campers assembled their own robot (an R2D2) with partners, using a power source, servo, motor and more. They coded Pong with a user-controlled paddle and a bouncing ball. Advanced students created a score variable that keeps track of how players do in the game. At RSI we want to prepare students for the future but also make sure that they have fun throughout that process!
