RSI Student takes 1st Place in Prestigious Chinese Bridge Competition!

Jayden Thi, a Renascence School International 2nd grade student took 1st place at the 2019 Chinese Bridge Chinese Language Proficiency Competition. This prestigious competition is held yearly and hosted by Confucius Institute at San Diego State University. The competition is open to students in grades 2-12 who are non-native Chinese speakers within the service areas of the Los Angeles Chinese Consulate General, including Southern California, Arizona, Hawaii, New Mexico and American Pacific islands. The elementary students competed on May 8th where Jayden Thi took top honors as the 1st place winner of the competition.

The students are tested on many different areas including Mandarin language proficiency, knowledge of China and Chinese Culture, and Chinese cultural skills. Jayden is Vietnamese and neither parents speak Mandarin Chinese, although his parents have been cultivating his talents in Chinese language.

Mr. Pang, Jayden’s Chinese teacher at RSI, has been working diligently with him in preparation for this competition!¬†Jayden is multilingual, having studied math and science in Chinese and language arts in English and Chinese, as well as Spanish since he was in preschool at the Renascence School International.¬†The Renascence School International would like to congratulate Jayden Thi and family for this outstanding achievement!
