Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

Renascence School International students always look forward to celebrating the Chinese New Year at school! At RSI this very special holiday is celebrated in many of the same ways as it is celebrated in China. RSI students enjoy taking part in some very special cultural traditions such as practicing Chinese calligraphy, creating paper lanterns and receiving red envelopes. 2020 welcomes the year of the rat. During Chinese class students were learning about the significance and good fortune that the rat brings in Chinese culture. In Chinese culture mandarins and goldfish are symbols of prosperity and good fortune. Thank you to the PTO and parent volunteers for providing dumplings, mandarins and goldfish for all of the students to enjoy! Happy Chinese New Year!
