Renascence School International Celebrates the ‘Sounds’ of Music!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

Learning continues off of the school campus! On Saturday May 19, students of Renascence School International Orange County went on a fun field trip to learn about “Sound”. To start it off they had a science lesson in Chinese about vibration and pitch. They also met a professional musician and watched her play some beautiful Chinese music on a bamboo dulcimer and a plucked zither (Gu Zheng). On one of the songs the students stood and recited a famous Tang Dynasty poem to their parents. After that they were invited to gently play the instruments and learn how stringed instruments produce high pitch and low pitch sounds. To top it all off, students, parents and staff enjoyed Chinese Dim Sum for lunch at a local restaurant.
