Conquering the art of public speaking!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

Giving a speech can be nerve-racking and a difficult experience for any student. Public speaking is a key component of RSI learning and students are tested on it during their assessments. Writing and giving a speech is challenging and it is important to continue to improve the art of public speaking over time. The Renascence School C9 students recently gave a speech on one of the books that they read this year.

Part of speech giving is the content, but for some students, the even more difficult part is how to handle nerves. Students are given five minutes to write a speech and at least one minute to present the speech. Students have to work on posture, controlling their speed, and eye contact while presenting in front of their teacher and peers! It is not easy, but it is boosting confidence each time they conquer it!
