Outside the Box – Ashley Bleeker
At RSI’s recent Back to School Night event, parents were welcomed on campus to meet with teachers in anticipation of the school year ahead. This event is a significant moment, as it marks students advancement into the next grade level. Within that transition, students will face new academic challenges that will help them grow further into competent and caring global citizens.
One marker of this event is the emphasis on connection. It is an incredible time for parents to meet one another as well as their child’s teachers. Our instructors shared about what this year will hold for their class and what students will be learning. By creating an understanding of the unique facets of each grade level, parents are better equipped to support their children. RSI has a unique, advanced curriculum that our teachers utilize, and our students thrive within. When our parents and teachers have relationship, they form an incredible team who can advocate for each student’s success.
This event was also an incredible time to connect with the community at large. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hosts many opportunities for fundraising throughout the school year. These efforts go to support the mission and vision behind RSI and provide support to RSI. At this event, the Parent Teacher Organization hosted Ken’s Porkstickers, a family-owned business that creates delicious dumplings in small batches. RSI highly values not only the community built with those at RSI, but also those in Costa Mesa, Orange County, and the Global community. It was an incredible night and we anticipate a great school year ahead.
