Choosing the right school for your child is a life-changing decision. Admissions Process

1. Visit Our Campus

Although many things can be conveyed with photos, video and print, the only way to truly understand what a school is like is to visit in person. This will give you the opportunity to connect to the heart of our organization, experience the commitment of our staff and see our campus. Your personalized tour will allow you to witness firsthand what makes RSI exceptional and how we can help prepare your child for a lifetime of worldly success. You’ll meet our faculty and staff, see our students in action, and learn more about our unique educational model.

2. Student Assessment and Family Interview:

Following the campus tour, we invite K-5th grade students for a trial day and student readiness assessment/family interview.

For 6th -12th grade students, the next steps are a student readiness assessment, family interview, and audition day. Student transcripts are due 2 business days prior to the student assessment date.

The family interview is your opportunity to meet with our director, ask any additional questions, and get more acquainted with the school and our learning community.

3. Apply

After your tour, trial day, and assessment/family interview, we ask you to provide the remainder of the information needed to complete enrollment. This includes the submission of an online application form and the documents outlined below:

  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Immunization Record (up to date)
  • Teacher recommendation form

4. Admissions

The last step in the enrollment process is for our team to conduct a final review of your application materials, determine space available in your child’s grade level, and confirm acceptance. New student fee and admission fee are required to secure your student’s spot.

K-5th grade students: After all items above have been submitted, your family will receive an acceptance letter indicating your official enrollment into RSI.

6th-12th grade students: After payment has been submitted, your student will automatically be placed in the Integrated Arts pathway as a placeholder pending the result of their audition to be transferred into their selected arts pathway.

Admissions Timeline

Important dates to remember when starting your child’s enrollment process:

  • Returning RSI families re-enrolling for the next school year will be given a priority enrollment period.

  • Open enrollment for new RSI students begins on January 20, 2025, and remains open as long as space is available.

  • A student’s space is secured after a favorable admission decision has been communicated to the family, all admissions steps have been completed, and the admission fee has been paid to RSI.

  • All programs have rolling admissions, applications will continue to be evaluated until all spaces are filled.

For Elementary: 65% Mandarin Chinese, 17.5% English, 17.5% Spanish.

*Spanish in Kindergarten is optional to keep the day shorter and allow time to focus on other subjects

RSI students excel in English because multiple languages also enhances the ability of English language learning.

You will see your child using the languages within 3-4 months and can carry on a simple conversation by the end of the year. Generally, it takes 3-4 years for a child to build the foundation for language proficiency.  Our students will achieve functional fluency by the end of  middle school and working fluency by the end high school in reading, writing, listening and speaking of Chinese and Spanish.  At that time they will be qualified to earn the Global Seal of Biliteracy.

Elementary and up: 8:00 – 3:30 pm
Kindergarten: 8:30-3:00 pm

In addition to a fence for the playground, our campus is monitored by surveillance cameras 24/7 and a security guard during school hours.

For the Arts Program, students will need to audition for their chosen pathway (Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Creative Writing, International Language Studies and Enterprises or Integrated Arts).

For the Language Immersion Program, new students will start at the beginner level in Mandarin Chinese OR Spanish.

For our language program, new middle and high school students will start at the beginner level with one of the two target languages (Mandarin Chinese or Spanish).

Students in the Arts Program will have a structured schedule for their conservatory pathway, which will be balanced alongside their academic coursework. Students will have the option to choose between a regular or honors track for academic classes, allowing for a comprehensive and well-rounded experience.

Each conservatory pathway offers comprehensive training that fosters creativity, technical skills, and confidence. The curriculum is designed to develop both artistic and academic abilities, with exposure to various disciplines and specialized electives to strengthen each student’s portfolio or skillset.

The school will provide dedicated support to students interested in applying to top art universities by offering guidance on building strong portfolios, preparing for auditions, and navigating the college application process. Additionally, students will have access to mentorship, workshops, and networking opportunities with professionals in the arts to strengthen their applications and increase their chances of success in competitive programs.

Students can participate in both the Arts Program and Language Immersion program simultaneously. New middle and high school students will begin their language studies at the beginner level in either Spanish or Mandarin, while current students will continue their language immersion as they have been doing.

While the Arts and Language Immersion Programs are separate, they complement each other by providing a well-rounded education. Students will develop language and cultural understanding in their chosen language while also gaining creative and technical skills through the arts.

Students will have access to various extracurricular activities, including community collaborations, art exhibits, performances, and potential internships or project-based work, particularly in the Integrated Arts & Enterprises pathway.

Students will have multiple opportunities to showcase their work through performances, exhibitions, and community projects, particularly in the Performing Arts and Visual Arts pathways. The Integrated Arts & Enterprises pathway will also offer opportunities for project-based work and collaborations.

Yes, there will be a limit on the number of students in each pathway, as spaces will be based on audition results.

Both the Arts Program and the Language Immersion Program will be offered at the same school site, providing an integrated and cohesive learning experience for all students. While the Arts Program will have a dynamic and creative environment, efforts will be made to ensure that the Language Immersion Program remains focused and quiet. The school will carefully design schedules and learning spaces to support both programs, ensuring each has the environment needed to succeed.

The Global Seal of Biliteracy is an international credential that conveys proficiency with language skills in two or more languages for our students. This credential offers a competitive advantage for our students by helping them earn scholarships, higher pay, college credit, increased study abroad opportunities and so much more. The Global Seal is and will be FREE for all.
